Insta-Worthy Macau | Coloane Village

Hello darling readers, welcome to the first edition of Insta-worthy Macau. In this segment of The Edit, we plan to visit and take photos of a new location here in Macau every few days to show you just how photogenic this little S.A.R. really is, and to kick things off, there was no clearer option other than Coloane Village.

This little town on Macau's third island has a lot to offer - bursts of color, good food, that chill vibe you won't get in the busier parts, and, of course, the most photogenic little streets and alleys for all your Instagram needs.

Because it does get a bit crowded as the afternoon wears on (like we experienced getting this post to you), we suggest taking this little trip in the morning, around 9AM. A whole round of the village would take 30-40 minutes more or less, after which you'd just be famished enough to try out the Portuguese Eggtarts at Macau's famous Lord Stow's Bakery, or have a sit-down brunch at either of their two Cafes, which serves all-day breakfast, snacks, entrees and mains.

Not your style of food? Not to worry because Coloane Village is also home to some amazing local cha chaan tengs, some of which close really early (tea restaurants) - but that's for another list so stay tuned.

Other things you must see and do in Coloane Village include:
  • Chapel of St Francis Xavier's (pictured)
  • A Macanese Lunch at Nga Tim Cafe
  • Old Tin Hau Temple
  • Ponte Cais de Coloane (another great photo op)

How to get to Coloane Village:
  • By Public Bus - Nos. 15, 21A, 25, 26, and 26A
  • By Taxi - Show the Taxi Driver 路環街市 [Low Wan Kai Si] - fare may reach 100 MOP depending on your location

We hope you enjoyed this first run of Insta-Worthy Macau! Get to instagramming dear readers, and don't forget to follow us on Instagram @theeditmacau as well for more insta-moments, Macau-style.
